Great Colleges to Work For Survey

In Spring 2018, the University of Wyoming participated for the first time in the Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For survey. The survey is an independently-administered, national survey that provides institutions with insights on the quality of the workplace experience and employees’ perceptions of the competitiveness of policies and benefits. During this first administration of the survey, the University contracted to extend the opportunity to participate in the survey to all full-time, benefits-eligible faculty and staff, rather than just a random sample. The survey allowed employees an opportunity to share their perspectives on workplace satisfaction in a manner that would be completely confidential. The survey was administered between March 12-April 6, 2018 and 57% of all eligible employees participated.

A committee of faculty, staff, and administrators has been appointed to coordinate data analysis, generate a report to the campus community, facilitate campus dialogues, and begin development of an action plan to address areas of concern.

    2018 Final Report of Results

On November 29, 2018 the committee released a final report of the findings of the 2018 Great Colleges to Work For survey. The report expands upon the preliminary report released in October. It incorporates the findings of a qualitative analysis of the survey’s open-ended responses and scores for the 60 scaled-response belief statements. The summary included in the report highlights some of the main areas of concern that emerged among the data.

    December 7, 2018 Town Hall

The University of Wyoming’s “Great Colleges to Work For” Task Force will host a town-hall meeting to present findings from the 2018 survey Friday, Dec. 7, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. The town hall has been organized as a roundtable work session. Following a brief presentation of the results, participants will engage in small group discussions to develop recommendations.

Members of the faculty, staff and administration are invited to attend and participate in a discussion about the results and contribute their ideas to the development of an action plan to address concerns raised in the report.

An hour and a half of release time will be granted to allow employees to take part. A recording of the town hall also will be available on WyoCast following the meeting.
