2021 Giving Day Campaigns

Campus Recreation Student Development Fund

Your support would go to the Campus Recreation Student Development fund, which supports our Campus Recreation student employees. This fund provides opportunities to bring in speakers for our students, to support student certifications in their areas of expertise, and to support students attending regional and national conferences. This creates an environment that supports student growth and continued learning to better not only Campus Recreation but UW as a whole. Investing in the development of our student employees is critical to the continued growth of our students and the pursuit of being a leader within collegiate recreation.

Outdoor Program

This Giving Day, we are asking for support to fund the purchase of additional backcountry ski set-ups. The Outdoor Program provides backcountry ski set-ups for the UW community to rent. Purchasing a backcountry set-up is very expensive and therefore excludes a lot of people from having the ability to enjoy this type of recreation, which is in part why they are a very popular rental item. This specialized equipment provides access to stunning terrain outside of ski areas. With backcountry set-ups, we also provide trips and clinics that teach students how to backcountry ski safely and learn good risk management. Your support will help purchase new skis, bindings, and skins to help us not only continue to provide this service, but to allow more people the ability to access the equipment and learn about backcountry skiing.

Wellness Center

The current pandemic has highlighted the critical role that health and wellness play in student success and campus wellbeing.

When students do not feel well—physically, psychologically, or socially—they have a harder time achieving their full academic potential. Indeed, data demonstrates a strong correlation between student wellness and student success, with the top academic impediments being stress, anxiety, depression, and physical illness. That's where the Wellness Center comes in.

The Wellness Center works to foster a culture of wellness and a healthy campus community through educational programs and services. Some of our more popular offerings include Puppy Play Dates, Kitty Cuddle Times, Free Fruit Friday, Smoothie Bike, full-body massage chairs, athletic training, and meditation and mindfulness trainings. Students are also able to get involved in the Wellness Ambassadors program and receive training in health education and leadership.

Please consider supporting the Wellness Center in our work to promote holistic well-being among UW students and campus. Your generous donation will go toward programs that support students through the Wellness Center.

Club Sports Match Information

Club Sports

Donations will individually support any one of the 21 Club Sport teams. Made up of almost 600 student athletes, these clubs are student led and student directed which provides invaluable leadership experience. In the course of an academic year, Club Sport teams host or travel to over 300 competitive events as representatives of the University of Wyoming regionally, nationally and internationally. Each club team is partially funded by student fee dollars, however the majority of each team’s budget is raised by the club itself. Clubs are responsible for raising funds that support their travel, equipment, uniform and apparel needs, all areas in which dues, fundraising, and donations on UW Giving Day and throughout the year play a vital role in reducing the financial burden on the individual athlete.
