This technology crated a method of achieving in-situ carbon sequestration in the steam coal gasification process utilizing CaSiO3, also known as wollastonite. The method used sequestered up to 99% of CO2 produced during the steam gasification process. The method also produced positive test results on beetle killed fir tree chips
This method of in-situ carbon sequestration could be applied in large or small scale coal fired power plants. The high rate of CO2 sequestration would lower CO2 emissions, reducing the negative effect on the environment. The technology might also successfully be applied to the steam gasification of other biomasses to reduce CO2 emissions
The 99% sequestration rate of CO2 would greatly reduce the amount of CO2 emission into the atmosphere. The technology also reduces the number of steps required to sequester the CO2
