MOVE IN 2020

Residence Life and Dining Services is currently formulating move-in plans for the fall 2020 semester. In light of current issues, we are examining ways we can employ healthy practices to move students back into on-campus housing safely. The move-in plan and schedule will be shared with all new and returning students in mid to late June. Please watch this page for updates. Thank you for your patience.

Arrival & Check-In

When you arrive, you should check-in at the desk of your assigned hall to verify that you have arrived at UW, get access to your room, and mailbox key. If you will be living in the Tobin House, please check-in there. However, if you will be living in the Honors House, you will check-in at Downey hall, and then a staff member will walk you to the Honors House.

After checking-in, a resident assistant (RA) will walk you to your room, ensure that the door access works, and then complete a room condition sheet with you. It is important for you to complete this process to ensure you are not charged for an improper checkout when you leave. A copy of the completed form is filed at the hall office.

Once you've visited your room with an RA, move your belongings from your vehicle to your room. Carts are available at the cart stations in front of the Residence Halls. When you've moved your belongings into your room, please move your car to a remote lot (or "R" Permit lot if you have a permit) before unpacking and setting up your room.

Early Arrivals

Residence hall move-in will start on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at 7 a.m. For those students who are part of a group that is moving into the halls earlier than this date, please work with your group coordinator to make these arrangements. For all other students requesting an early move-in date, please email with your name, residence hall and room number, the date you would like to move-in, as well as a brief description of why you need to arrive earlier than August 20. Individual requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students moving in early should check into the front desk of their assigned residence hall.

Cowboy Connect

Cowboy Connect, a welcome and orientation program for first-year residential, first-year non-residential, first-time veteran, and transfer students, will commence at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2020, with New Student Convocation, and run through the afternoon of Sunday, August 23, 2020. Detailed schedules for each group will be made available by June 2020 on the Cowboy Connect webpage. 

If your plans change after you have submitted your Residence Life & Dining Services Contract, it is very important that you communicate the changes with the staff in the Residence Life & Dining Services office. Please refer to your Contract Terms and Conditions 2020-21 for more information about contract cancellation, release, and termination.
