Phase 0/00 Template

Square One System Design robot at Brookhaven Lab

Square One Systems Design was awarded a $5,000 Phase 0 award in November 2004 to determine the feasibility of its research and applied for an SBIR Phase I award from the U.S. Department of Energy. Square One ultimately received about $850,000 in Phase I and Phase II awards and used that funding to conduct research and build the prototype of the sample exchange robot. Phase 0/00 Templates

NOTE: Due to the State of Wyoming budget situation the Phase 0/00 Contract amount has been reduced to reflect budget reductions to the Wyoming SBIR/STTR Iniative Program.  Additional cuts may be necessary as the State's budget situation changes.  Please continue to use the $5K when preparing your Phase 0/00 budgets, but know the final award amount will be less.

WSSI prepared a template  to assist with the applications process. Applicants are not required to use the templates, but will need to follow the strict guidelines for page limits, font sizes, word counts and so forth as outlined in the template.

Some of the key components of the Template are:

  • Abstract - This abstract is limited to 200 words and should include a brief description of the problem or opportunity, project objectives, a description of the effort, anticipated results, and potential commercial applications.
  • Budget
  • Project Description
    • Indentification and Significance of the Problem
    • Phase 0/00 Objectives  - include preliminary testing or data collection
    • Phase 0/00 work plan
    • Key personnel - while you can go it alone it is better to build a team
    • Facilities
    • Commercialization Potential
  • Resumes of Key Personnel
