IMPORTANT NOTICE: This information is for the academic year 2022-23. The UW Transfer Commitment will no longer be available to students after the spring 2023 semester. Please see our new Pokes Transfer Commitment for non-resident transfer students which will become available to eligible students beginning fall 2023. 


The University of Wyoming wants transfer students to know that finalizing their four-year degree is within reach. We are proud to offer the UW Transfer Commitment, a financial pledge that benefits incoming students who transfer to the University of Wyoming. 

Please note: All University of Wyoming financial awards are only available to eligible admits. The awards are subject to available funding and the approval of the UW Board of Trustees; they reserve the right to change said rates at any time.

Cannot be combined with the Western Undergraduate Exchange.


 Other Eligibility Information

  • Residents with > 75 transfer hours

  • Non-residents, excluding Nebraska and Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) states

º  If you are from Nebraska you may qualify to receive the Nebraska Transfer Award.

º  If you are from a WUE state you may qualify to receive the WUE Transfer Award.

  • International

Transfer students must have a minimum of a 3.4 GPA and an associate's degree. SAIT students will be awarded if they meet eligibility requirements.



To be considered for the UW Transfer Commitment, the UW Admissions Office must have the following:

  • Application for admission and the non-refundable $40 admission application fee

  • UW Transfer Opportunities application within WyoScholarships, the University of Wyoming’s scholarship system

  • Official college transcripts

  • Proof of associate's degree  (reflected on transcript)

  • Students are provisionally awarded the UW Transfer Commitment by the UW Admissions Office shortly after being admitted. Final awards are determined upon receipt of all final academic records.

Spring admitted students selected to receive the UW Transfer Commitment must confirm their enrollment at UW by January 5, 2023, 11:59 p.m. MDT.



Initial Eligibility and Compliance

  • The UW Transfer Commitment is only available to first-time, entering transfer students seeking their first bachelor's degree who have earned an associate's degree and have a minimum of a 3.4 transfer GPA.

  • It is renewable for up to 4 semesters (2 academic years) or up to the first bachelor's degree whichever comes first.

  • Students must maintain full-time continuous enrollment (12 semester hours) during the fall and spring semesters each year but are not available for use during the summer semester.

  • Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester).

  • Details regarding the requirements to receive and renew the UW Transfer Commitment will be included in the award Terms & Conditions.
