The Division of Social Work offers two graduate programs of study, both culminating in an MSW degree with a concentration in advanced generalist social work practice. The curriculum for both the Standard Program and the Advanced Standing Program is carefully sequenced to provide students the necessary information to proceed to the next level of coursework. Students must successfully complete all required coursework at one level before being allowed to move to the more advanced level of coursework.
At instructor discretion, students in Laramie attend class in person with the instructor on campus.

Information for Graduate Students
Anticipated Graduation Date Form - Submit this form to the Registrar at the beginning of the semester in which you intend to graduate.
Exception Request - Use this form if you need to register for a course past the add/drop deadline.
Overload Petition - Use this form if you need to overload credits in a semester. This is typical for students concurrently enrolled in the MSW and School Social Work Certificate Programs.
The curriculum of the MSW is competency-based, in compliance with the Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards.

All students must complete a capstone project as part of their course of study. This can include a thesis (also called Plan A), which is a 2-credit project that involves the creation of original research or a Plan B, which is a 1-credit practice evaluation project.
