Student teacher with two children, with wording: Welcome to the Special Education Program

The Special Education program is committed to preparing highly qualified graduates to serve K-12 students with varying needs in the least restrictive environment and to ensure their access to the general education curriculum. We value diverse and evidence-based pedagogical, instructional, curricular, and positive behavioral approaches as well as research methodologies designed to produce appropriate learning outcomes for all students.

All courses for the program are offered through Distance Education, either by video conference, intensive weekends, web-based instruction, or a combination of these formats. This makes the program accessible to Wyoming educators outside of the Laramie area. The program is not entirely online, but is accessible around the state through the variety of delivery methods listed above. More information on distance education course formats.

The Special Education Program is Nationally Recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
