Surveys: Feedback from Stakeholders

To monitor our performance as a teacher preparation program, we need feedback from stakeholders, including current students, graduates, and administrators at schools that hire our graduates. To get this feedback we use several different survey instruments administered by internal and external units.

What is the feedback from employers of our graduates?

The Graduates and Principals survey asks graduates how well they believe their program prepared them for their first year of teaching. The survey also asks principals of schools that employ new graduates about their observations of new graduates' performance. The survey's objective is to help College of Education administrators and faculty members determine whether the program is effective at giving students the knowledge and skills they need to perform well in schools.

What is the feedback from our students and their mentor teachers?

The Reflections Survey is administered at the end of every spring (residency) semester. This survey examines the mentor-student teacher relationship and experience. Residency students are asked about the effectiveness and thoroughness of their mentor teacher, and mentor teachers are asked whether they addressed a series of areas critical to teacher preparation and readiness for the classroom.
