Student Success Services (SSS)

As a student with a documented disability, you are eligible to apply for services from Student Success Services (SSS). SSS is a project within Student Educational Opportunity that serves full-time UW students. Its goals include "increasing the retention and graduation rates of eligible students and to foster a supportive institutional climate." Services provided include study groups, study skills workshops, career exploration, graduate school exploration, and academic and personal support. For more information or to get an application, contact the SEO main office at 330 Knight Hall.  SSS can be reached via phone at 307-766-6189 or email at sss@uwyo.edu.

The University Counseling Center, 341 Knight Hall, helps students resolve personal problems which interfere with their academic success. Examples include family problems, divorce, depression, eating disorders, etc. Call 307-766-2187 (V/TTY) for appointments.

Psychology Clinic
Located in Room 304 Biological Sciences, the Psychology Clinic is staffed by interns in psychology who are closely supervised by professional faculty. Students who feel they may have a learning disability or need to have an updated assessment of their learning disability status may be able to obtain low-cost testing through the Psychology Clinic.  To make an appointment, call 307-766-2149.

Wellspring Counseling Clinic offers free and confidential counseling services for individuals, couples, families, adults, adolescents, and children.  Counseling is provided by masters-level students who are supervised by faculty and are taped. For more information, call 307-766-6820.

Academic Advising

Students are advised by faculty or staff advisors for course and degree planning purposes.  Undeclared students are advised by the Advising, Career, and Exploratory Studies Center (ACES). DSS assists with academic advising by collaborating in the advising process. Issues such as classroom accessibility, choice of instructors, and course content (reading and writing demands, etc.) are particular concerns for DSS students. As you work through the advising process, also consult with your DSS coordinator to supplement the information you need to make course and degree planning decisions.
