Buchanan at Laramie City Council Tuesday

October 14, 2009

University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan updated the Laramie City Council Tuesday at a work session on the progress of projects at UW.

He gave the status of the current construction projects at the College of Business, the Coe Library, the College of Law and the Wyoming State Veterinary Lab. Two more projects, the School of Energy Resources and the Berry Biodiversity and Conservation Center, are gearing up and plans for building a Fine Arts Center, remodeling Downey Hall and demolishing the Summit View apartments are in progress.

UW has two other major construction projects not in Laramie that are nearing dates for groundbreakings -- the NCAR(National Center for Atmospheric Research) Wyoming Supercomputing Center and the High Plains Gasification - Advanced Technology Center.

Buchanan also discussed plans for developing the UW campus in Laramie.

He was accompanied by ASUW Director for Policy Planning CJ Young, who gave the council updates on the growth of the SafeRide program and ASUW's Census initiative.

Buchanan gives regular updates to the Laramie City Council.
