Campus Construction Update for Week of Oct. 18

These are among the construction activities scheduled at the University of Wyoming during the week of Oct. 18-24:

Cowboy Dorm/WRI Storage Buildings/Berry Center -- For the Berry Center the contractor will be installing tracking pads, excavating the building pad, hauling dirt out of the site and filling in the holes from the WRI buildings that were removed.

Old Power Plant -- Contractors will begin cutting and separating pieces in the power plant to prepare for deconstruction.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- Work continues on the exterior walls. Final cleaning is continuing in the existing building. At the addition, painting is continuing in the basement, drywall installation on the ground floor, metal wall framing on the second floor, and utility rough-ins on the third floor. Contractor will be setting landscaping stone around the site and preparing to place walks to the entrance.

ILLC (Information Library and Learning Center) -- The contractor will work on interior finishes of the west reading room. Shelving installation continues on the lower two levels. Some of the public furniture will begin arriving during the week.

Kendall House (Southeast corner of 8th and Fremont Streets) -- The contractor has fenced the area and is setting up for site work. There will be no parking along the alley on the east side of the property. Interior demolition has started.

Biological Safety Lab, Level Three (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Decking and miscellaneous structural steel installation will continue to take place. Masonry will begin on the west side.

Arena-Auditorium (Scheduled Completion: Oct. 31) -- Accessible seating is being added, with handrails scheduled to be installed this week.

War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled Completion: Fall 2010) -- The East Stadium parking lot will be open on game days. Upper deck framing continues this week. Temporary heat enclosure is ongoing.

Engineering 4055 (Scheduled Completion: January, 2010) -- Demolition of research lab continues.

Hoyt Hall (Scheduled Completion: Nov. 1) -- Second floor women's restroom will be closed for accessibility improvements. Restrooms on the first and third floors are available.

Bioscience General Classroom Renovations, Phase 2 (Scheduled completion date: Dec. 21) -- Construction is scheduled to begin in Bioscience Building Room 220, with some punch list items remaining in Rooms 217, 218 and 219. Staging area takes up 1 parking spot in the Hoyt Hall loop drive.

Centennial Complex -- Exterior block repair is complete. Cap flashing will be completed at the Sculpture Court and Art Museum window sills. Block cleaning has started, control joint caulking is scheduled to start Oct. 19. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building.

The UW Physical Plant has scheduled the following activities for the week:

Corbett Building -- New exterior lights are being installed along the sidewalk north of the building.

Corbett Gym -- Installation of the new sign on the southwest corner of the building will be complete by Monday.

Campus Grounds -- Sprinkler systems are being winterized across campus from now through October. There may be occasional overspray on sidewalks and around buildings.

Campus Greenhouse -- Concrete has been poured. There should be no further interruption of pedestrian traffic in the area.

Health Sciences Building -- Landscaping and flagstone work on the east side continues.

Student Union -- Carpeting throughout the building is being replaced. Work will continue for a couple more weeks.

Engineering -- Window sill repairs continue on 4th, 5th & 6th floors inside of the court area on the east wall.

RMMC (Regulated Materials Management Center) -- Re-roofing continues. The staging area is on the south side of building. Please use caution when entering from the south and around the staging area.

War Memorial Fieldhouse -- Roof replacement is substantially complete. The contractor is now working on punch list items. The staging area is on the west side of the building. Please use caution when entering from the north and around the staging area.

Arena-Auditorium -- Work on the repair of the supply and return air fans is complete.

Knight Hall -- Capstone work continues on the southwest planters of the building. Please use caution in this area.
