The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Wyoming Student Chapter has partnered with McAlister's Deli, in Laramie, for one night only, Wednesday, Nov. 18, to create a community fundraiser.
The Associated Students of the Performing Arts' new technical representation, the USITT (Wyoming Student Section) is new this academic year. McAlister's Deli will contribute a percentage of its evening's sales between 5-9 p.m. to the Wyoming Student Chapter.
"The student chapter is of significant value to the students in developing professional
contacts nationally and internationally specific to their area of study in theatre
design and technology," said faculty sponsor Casey Kearns. The funds will aid students
attending the USITT national conference in March.
"People are curious about how all of the technical elements of a production come
together," said Michael Arlen, a senior lighting design major and cabinet member of
the organization. "This dinner is a perfect way for them to see us as much more than
the shadows backstage and as real people -- we plan to have technicians and designers
much more visible this year," Arlen continued.
