Flooding Update: UW Volunteers Not Needed Now

June 15, 2010

University of Wyoming volunteers are not needed at this time to assist with local flood relief efforts. The university is in contact with the City of Laramie to monitor the situation.

"The City of Laramie does not anticipate the need for UW volunteers this week," says Nancy Fox, UW Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Office director who is coordinating UW's volunteer assignments. "Some volunteers may be needed to help with cleanup work next week. Thanks to the large number of staff, faculty and students who have contacted the Environmental Health and Safety Office. "

EHS will maintain contact information on those who already have contacted the office to volunteer. If UW volunteers are requested by local officials, EHS will contact the volunteers for activation. Those who may be called to assist are eligible for four hours of release time, authorized by UW President Tom Buchanan.
