Beginning next spring semester, the University of Wyoming Outreach School will award
a new scholarship to help pay an Outreach School student's living expenses while he
or she pursues a college education. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Dec.
3.
The Edelweiss Fund, created by an anonymous gift in fall 2008, aims to ease a selected
student’s financial burden of attending school for the duration of his or her degree
program, up to six years. This includes expenses such as rent, utilities and childcare.
To be eligible, students must:
-- Be a part- or full-time student enrolled in at least three credit hours through
the UW Outreach School;
-- Be pursuing a degree delivered through the UW Outreach School;
-- Be eligible for federal student financial aid through UW (must file a FAFSA for
2010-2011 before the application deadline); and
Demonstrate promise of academic excellence.
Preference will be given to students newly or recently enrolled in an Outreach School
academic program; non-traditional, female, "first-generation" students; single parents;
and residents of Wyoming or those non-residents with unique ties to the state.
