Rides to Polls Available for On

October 29, 2010

University of Wyoming residence hall and Greek housing students can take advantage of free rides to vote at the American Heritage Center for Tuesday's general election. Safe Ride vans will depart from outside the Washakie Dining Center from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

The wait for vans should not exceed 10 minutes, depending upon demand. Students are encouraged to wait inside the Washakie Dining Center by the Pokes Vote banner to stay warm, says Corey Peacock, AmeriCorps intern with UW's Service, Leadership, & Community Engagement (SLCE) Office. SLCE and Safe Ride sponsor the free service.

Students who are not yet registered in any district may register on-site on Election Day. Information on polling places for off-campus students can be accessed at www.co.albany.wy.us/poll-locator.aspx.

The rides are offered as part of Pokes Vote, a nonpartisan effort to register UW students to vote, inform them about their voting choices and election procedures, and encourage them to go the polls on election day.
