Free Online Tutoring Now Offered to University of Wyoming Students

November 16, 2010

University of Wyoming students can now find tutoring free online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a new e-Tutoring program.

UW students can login to www.uwyo.edu/etutor and follow the instructions to access e-Tutoring. Once logged in, students can view a schedule of available tutors for undergraduate subjects including math, science, writing, Spanish, Web development and others. Tutoring sessions are conducted in real-time between tutors and students with online interaction and an audio connection.

The Web site features a writing lab where students can submit and get feedback on writing assignments. Students can chat with tutors for a particular subject and submit offline questions for tutors to answer.

The e-Tutoring program is offered through a partnership of more than 35 schools that have organized into the Northwest e-Tutoring Consortium. Universities and colleges contribute rigorously trained tutors from their campuses to the program.

Several partners at the University of Wyoming have contributed tutors and resources to make e-Tutoring available to UW students. The UW partners are the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning, the Writing Center, Student Affairs, LeaRN  and the Outreach School.

For more information about e-Tutoring, contact Outreach School Instructional Designer Christi Boggs at (307) 766-4238 or cboggs@uwyo.edu.
