These are among the construction activities scheduled Dec. 19-Jan. 7 at the University of Wyoming:

Notice -- Willett Drive is scheduled to be closed from 22nd to Crane Street beginning Tuesday, Dec. 21, through Monday, Dec. 27, and will re-open Tuesday, Dec. 28, for utility work. Traffic in this area will be detoured to avoid the construction site. 22nd St. will remain open for north-south traffic but some work will be scheduled on the east side of the street.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Education Annex (Scheduled Completion: Dec., 2010) -- Access is restricted access until Jan. 7. Feature wall installation under way. Art design and related finish upgrades are scheduled on the second and third floors. Work on punch list items is ongoing. Day, evening, and weekend work is scheduled through December. Grand opening is set for Friday, Jan. 14.

Energy Resources Center (1020 Lewis Street, former site of the old power plant) -- Site cleanup will take place with Berry Center contractor removing stored materials and equipment upon completion of the Berry Center. Fencing has been reconfigured to secure the site.

Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center (Faculty scheduled to move in during December, facility will be open for spring semester) -- Lewis Street remains closed from 10-1/2 to 11th Streets for contractor staging area for the ERC project. The building is complete and tenants have begun moving in. Classes will be held in the spring semester. The drive between the Berry Center and the Bureau of Mines Building (9½ Street alley) is now open but may be closed periodically to demonstrate the vault that was abandoned after meter relocation. There will be equipment moving into the building as occupants get set up in the building. Trailers will be vacated and possibly taken over by another construction firm. Some congestion may be experienced due to offloading of lab equipment and furniture.

UW Tennis Facility (Armory Road across from Little League Complex, scheduled completion: February, 2011) -- Exterior paneling continues, work is scheduled during the holiday break.

Downey Hall Renovation -- Rough-in work continues on all floors on the interior. Gypsum board and door frame installation is occurring on the upper floors. Stucco and roof installation on the front entrance will continue, weather permitting.

Visual Arts Center (22nd Street and Willett Drive near the Centennial Complex, scheduled completion is late fall, 2011) -- Some foundation work, excavation and underground utility work will proceed as weather permits during the holidays. There will be utility work on Willett and along 22nd Street, Willett will be closed with a detour to 22nd or Crane and then to Nelson. There will be frequent heavy construction traffic for delivery of materials throughout the weeks. Additional materials and equipment will start arriving onsite for steel erection and masonry work. Crane for steel erection is on site and steel erection will continue into March.
A portion of the Centennial Complex parking has been blocked off for a safety zone while steel erection is done on the west side. Be aware that there will be construction traffic throughout the period. Foot and vehicular traffic will not be permitted across the site. There may be extended workdays and, weather permitting, there may be work on weekend days.

Summit View Apartment Deconstruction Phase II (South of Willett Drive between Crane and 22nd streets to Arrowhead) -- Deconstruction on the four blocks is nearly complete. The entire four blocks are fenced off, so pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around the area. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around this area, too. Final grading of all six blocks will begin in the spring.
