Enrollment at the University of Wyoming has reached an all time high, according to the latest report by the UW Office of Institutional Analysis (OIA).
The highest previous official fall enrollment on the Laramie campus was 10,624 in fall 1990; the enrollment for fall 2010 is 10,664. The high previous official overall enrollment in any semester was 13,655 in spring 1991; there are now 13,657 total students enrolled for fall 2010.
"These numbers are significant in light of declining high school enrollments in Wyoming," says UW President Tom Buchanan. "Congratulations to our admissions staff for all of their work to recruit students to campus and to all of the faculty and staff on campus for their roles in helping to retain them."
UW should see continuing enrollments for "professional students" (short- course enrollments by teachers throughout the state) so UW's final enrollment could be even higher.
The numbers confirm predictions of a record enrollment based on the total on the 15th class day, used for the census date because it occurs after the class drop/add deadlines and after the first tuition and fee payment is due to the university.
