Associate Professor Allen Trent has been appointed associate dean for undergraduate programs in the University of Wyoming College of Education effective Aug. 1.

He will oversee the Wyoming Teacher Education Program and the Office of Teacher Education. Trent replaces Judy Ellsworth, who plans to retire this fall.

"We welcome Allen to this role with appreciation for his willingness to engage in this work as accountability for teacher preparation programs continues to heighten," says College of Education Dean Kay Persichitte.

Trent received the university's John P. Ellbogen Meritorious Classroom Teaching Award in 2010, the college's "Outstanding Contributions to the College Climate" Award (2007 and 2004) and the Outstanding Teaching Award in 2003. He also was selected as one of the Mortar Board senior honor society's "Top Profs" three times.

A UW faculty member since 2000, Trent was chair of the Educational Studies Department from 2005-2009. He earned a Ph.D. (2000) at The Ohio State University, an M.S. (1992) at the University of Dayton and a B.S. (1986) at Eastern Kentucky University.
