Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, in the University of Wyoming Fine Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $24 for the public and $20 for students and seniors. For ticket information, call (307) 766-6666, visit the Fine Arts box office or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

A native of Scotland, Fowlis was named Gaelic Singer of the Year in 2007 at the Scots Trad Music Awards and was nominated three years in a row by BBC Radio as Folk Singer of the Year. She won in 2008, an award never before bestowed upon a Scottish singer. The Daily Telegraph, a United Kingdom newspaper, described Fowlis as "the first Scottish Gaelic crossover star in the making."

Her greatest honor, however, was being appointed "Tosgaire na Gaidhlig" (Scottish Gaelic Ambassador) by the Scottish Parliament, which had never bestowed that honor previously.

"You'd have to have a cold heart indeed not to be touched by this music," said Radiohead's Phil Selway.
