Daniel Smith's Gallery 234 exhibition, "Irrationality in a Rational World," can be seen from Monday, Nov. 21, through Friday, Dec. 9, in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union.

A reception for the exhibition is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. The event is free and open to the public.

Smith says a set of photographs, "are used to express the dividing contrasts between rationality within the natural world and irrationality within our world." Images of urban ruins are juxtaposed against the natural order of nature's processes.

All works are shot by film cameras made before 1980, and different films are used depending on whether the photograph is rational or irrational. The artist will discuss camera and film choices along with the exhibition subject with guests at the reception.
