UW Sustainability Discussion Series Starts Wednesday

February 20, 2012

A discussion series to raise awareness and community interest in sustainable practices starts Wednesday, Feb. 22.

"Community Foods Forum" is scheduled at 12:15 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room. It starts with a "consumers" panel, consisting of representatives from UW Dining Services, Albany County School Gardens, Feeding Laramie Valley, and Larimer County Schools' "Real Food Colorado." A 30-minute question and answer session follows.

A "producers" panel at 1:45 p.m. will include presentations from Laramie's Big Hollow Foods Co-op; WY Farmer's Marketing Association; Triple Crown Commodities Food Co-op; and the UW ACRES Student Farm, followed by questions and answers.

Wednesday's program is the first in a series sponsored by the UW Campus Sustainability Committee that will include one event per month during February, March and April on topics including sustainable foods, energy efficiency and waste management. The sessions are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
