UW Celebrates Alumni in Casper

March 12, 2012

The University of Wyoming will reunite alumni living in Casper and surrounding areas at a reception Monday, March 19, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Petroleum Club in Casper. The event will follow the afternoon groundbreaking of the new UW/CC Center/Student Union building at Casper College.

in 1976, UW formed a partnership with Casper College to deliver its programs to the citizens of central Wyoming through onsite courses and student support services. Through the UW/CC Center, more than 3,000 students have earned degrees. Many of the students have been nontraditional -- older residents with families and jobs that could not relocate to Laramie to complete their education.

While opening with only three programs, the UW/CC Center now offers 17 bachelor's degrees, 12 master's degrees and numerous certificates and endorsements.

Brent Pickett, associate dean and director of the UW/CC Center, says, "The story of the first 36 years of UW/CC is one of growth -- in enrollments, in the number of programs and in the depth of the partnership with Casper College. The building we are breaking ground on is a great capstone to the first third of a century of UW/CC's history, and sets the stage for an even brighter future."

Sponsored by the UW Office of the President, UW Alumni Association, UW Foundation and the UW Outreach School, the reunion is intended to bring together former classmates while celebrating a new era of UW's partnership with CC.

All UW alumni are invited to attend. For more information or to RSVP, contact Holly Herring at (307) 766-4166 or email hherrin1@uwyo.edu by Monday, March 12.
