Carlinda Munoz is UW Employee of the Quarter

Carlinda Munoz, International Studies Program office associate and graduate coordinator, is the University of Wyoming's Outstanding Staff Employee of the First Quarter.

The award recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace.

"As the heart of the department, she always expresses interest in how to make certain processes work more efficiently and how we can achieve certain goals better," a nominator writes. "Carlinda is a fabulous team worker and has created a solid basis for good cooperation among the department's faculty and staff. It is a true pleasure working with her."

Another nominator notes that "This is the person that the students, other staff, faculty and department heads depend on. I have no worries that tasks will be done well and on time. It is a pleasure to work with someone who has grown into the job, one who can handle a varied and challenging job description, and always keeps her sense of humor."

Munoz began working for the International Studies Program in February 2010, after working as an accounting associate for UW Cultural Programs since 2008. She says she enjoys interacting with students and helping them to achieve their academic goals.

"As the graduate coordinator, I work closely with the graduate students," she says. "Seeing their hard work and success in achieving their goals is very satisfying."

Munoz says several individuals at UW have helped and encouraged her to grow in the profession, including Janelle Fletcher, Cultural Programs coordinator; and Jean Garrison, director, and David Messenger, graduate director, both with the International Studies Program.

Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the web at http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/EOQ.asp.
