UW Commencement Visitors Face Traffic Disruptions

April 30, 2012

People planning to attend University of Wyoming spring commencement activities this weekend will face some traffic disruptions due to a major road construction project east of campus.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed the intersection of 30th Street and Grand Avenue to rebuild it. There are detours around the intersection along the main artery that runs from Interstate 80's east Laramie exit to the city and UW's campus, but traffic won't be flowing like usual.

As a result, UW officials encourage commencement visitors to allow for more time to reach campus destinations, and to consider alternative exits from I-80.

In addition, UW Transit and Parking Services is planning additional shuttle bus service to transport visitors to the various commencement ceremonies. For details on the free service, go here: https://www.uwyo.edu/tap/_files/mapfiles/2012-commencementshuttles.pdf and here: https://www.uwyo.edu/tap/parking/asevents.html. Visitors also are reminded that the Gem City Grand bus service will operate its normal hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 5. It provides free transportation along Grand Avenue, with stops on campus. To view a map of the Gem City Grand bus route, click here.
