Helen M. Alatorre will begin duties July 16 as the University of Wyoming's assistant dean of students for leadership.

The assistant dean oversees the Associated Students of UW (student government) business office, coordinates fraternity and sorority activities, and advises ASUW. Allatore comes to UW with 15 years' experience working in student affairs. She received a master of education degree in counseling and personnel services, with an emphasis in multiculturalism, from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Her most recent job was as associate director of student leadership and development at Loyola Marymount University, where she directly oversaw Greek life, student government and other student leadership programs.

Dave Cozzens, UW dean of students, cites one of Allatore's references: "Helen brings a strong theoretical/intellectual context, with a pragmatic and experienced perspective regarding student development, along with a passion and excitement for the field of student affairs."
