Interim UW Human Resources Director Named

Richard DelaCastro has been named interim director of the University of Wyoming Department of Human Resources.

Richard DelaCastro, a consultant with more than 25 years of experience in the profession, has been named interim director of the University of Wyoming Department of Human Resources.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Richard’s experience and proven track record as a human resources professional serve UW until we fill the position permanently,” says Mark Collins, UW interim vice president of administrative operations. “His leadership will ensure our Human Resources Department will continue to operate smoothly and provide important personnel services to the entire campus community.”

DelaCastro will lead the planning, development and administration of all aspects of human resources, including employment for all UW employees, compensation/classification, benefits, performance management (classified staff), employee relations and human resources information systems. He will ensure compliance with employment laws and regulatory requirements within the current emerging employment practices guidelines, Collins adds.

A consultant with the Mountain States Employers Council and HR Ventures, DelaCastro provides a full range of human resources consulting, including compensation, employee relations, career development, benefits, policy administration, performance management and staffing.

He previously served as director of human resources for the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (2006-2008) and for the City of Fort Collins, Colo. (1999-2006). Additionally, he was an adjunct professor at both Creighton University and the University of Northern Iowa.
