Jen Chavez is the new University of Wyoming Information Technology Applications and Database Services director. She has been interim director since February.

“Jen has strengthened our customer relationships and enhanced the ones she has developed over the years,” says Robert Alyward, UW vice president for Information Technology. “She is good at building the critical partnerships between Information Technology and other members of the university community that IT serves. She does an excellent job managing many of our most complex projects.”

The Department of Applications and Database Services (ADS) provides secure, reliable software applications and database support to university departments and users with a strong focus on customer service. By maintaining a technical emphasis on application stability, database integrity and information security, the ADS department allows customers to maximize the value of these applications rather than focusing on their technology implementation and support. ADS serves as a resource for the university concerning application software reviews and implementations.

Chavez worked at IT as a student and, after graduating, she started her career as an accounting associate in the Business Services unit. She advanced to other positions, most recently as project manager with Applications and Database Services.

A native of Cheyenne, Chavez received a B.S. degree in marketing from UW in 1998. She recently completed her first year in the UW Leadership Academy, has served since 2010 on the Uniwyo Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and is currently secretary. She also is vice president of the Laramie Youth Baseball Board of directors.
