Revised Agenda for UW Trustees on Friday

October 11, 2012

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has a revised agenda for the board’s special meeting on Friday, Oct. 12.

The board will now meet in open session beginning at 10 a.m. in Old Main Room 404 to interview consulting firms to assist with UW’s presidential search process. Trustees then are expected to move into executive session at about 11:30 a.m. to discuss the search firms.

The board will then move back into open session in the afternoon in the Old Main board room to consider action on a search consultant and a resolution regarding the search process.

While no decisions have been made, trustees last week indicated they are leaning toward using a consulting firm to accept applications and recruit candidates. The board also indicated it likely will create multiple committees to evaluate applicants and narrow the list of candidates. Those committees are likely to be made up of members of the Board of Trustees, as well as UW faculty, students, staff, representatives of the UW Foundation, and individuals not directly affiliated with the university.

Ultimately, it will be the 12-member Board of Trustees that hires the successor to President Tom Buchanan, who is retiring as president at the end of summer 2013. Board members indicated they are committed to attracting a deep pool of possible candidates.
