UW Students Chosen for 2012 UW Gold Recognition

October 12, 2012

Six University of Wyoming students on Thursday were named UW Gold winners for 2012.

They were announced at Thursday's Homecoming Sing, will ride in the Homecoming parade and will be introduced at halftime at the UW-Air Force football game Saturday.

Cardinal Key, the junior class honor society, sponsors UW Gold, which replaces traditional Homecoming royalty. The students were nominated on the basis of continued success in academic studies, community service and leadership. The tradition is a way for leading students to be recognized by their peers, the university and the state.

The UW Gold representatives for 2012, listed by hometown and major, are:

Arvada, Colo. -- Alexandria Barrett, communication with minor in marketing, senior.

Casper -- Jaryd Unangst, biology with minor in chemistry/international studies, senior.

Douglas -- Meghan Kolf, pharmacy doctoral with minor in Spanish, senior.

Green River -- Erin Jarnagin, international studies, senior.

Laramie -- Rhiannan Marshall, nursing/Spanish, senior.

Shoshoni -- Chase McNamee, secondary education/history, senior.
