Pure Water for the World is building a brighter future for residents of Haiti.
Difficulties in providing Haiti with sustainable, clean water after the 2010 earthquake is the focus of a lecture scheduled Friday, Nov. 16, at noon in Room 214 of the University of Wyoming Classroom Building.
“Pure Water for the World helps the underserved in developing countries by providing sustainable safe drinking water filtration systems, sanitation and hygiene education.” says Dieudidonne Mayambi Khula, the director of Pure Water for the World.
His lecture, titled “Haiti and Post-Disaster Reconstruction – Lessons for Development Work and NGOs,” will explain Pure Water’s role after the earthquake.
In Haiti, Pure Water works in Port Au Prince and Cite Soliel, a suburb considered one of the world’s poorest slums.
This forum is part of the statewide Global and International Studies Lecture Series and World to Wyoming Initiative. The initiative is funded by a U.S. Department of Education award to the UW Global and Area Studies Program in partnership with Wyoming’s seven community colleges. The lecture series is sponsored by Global and Area Studies, and the Wyoming Humanities Council.
