UW Program Helps Women Compete in Male

November 8, 2012

The University of Wyoming Women in Math, Science and Engineering Program (WiMSE) will host a workshop, “Personal Statements in the Sciences,” Wednesday, Nov. 14, at noon in Room 203 of the Wyoming Union.

The workshop helps women prepare and use personal statements in research and scholarship applications.

“WiMSE helps women succeed and be retained in their science, technology, engineering or mathematics-related majors,” says Dolores Saucedo Cardona, associate dean of students. “We want them to be ready and competitive to apply for research grants and scholarship support. Often, students do not write compelling statements about themselves and this workshop will help them do that.”

The Women’s Center and several other campus units sponsor the program. For more information, contact Cardona at (307) 766-6228 or email womenscenter@uwyo.edu.
