Marc Marcuse, from the first season of the NBC reality show, “Average Joe,” will discuss how to use college to get ahead in the working world Thursday, Feb. 21, at the University of Wyoming.

Marcuse will present his “Career Boot Camp” tips at 5 p.m. in the UW College of Agriculture auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.

“This is not an ordinary lecture. Marcuse takes this opportunity to discuss insider tricks to get a career started right after graduation,” says Ashley Dallum, from the UW Campus Activities Center. “One specific detail is the importance of the college major because it does not solely define future careers.”

Marcuse will assist participating students with resume writing and interviewing skills to help prepare them for post-graduation careers.

Since graduating from UCLA, Marcuse has “attended medical school, worked at Microsoft during the dotcom boom and designed theme park technologies for Disney Imagineering.” He has used those experiences to create his own talent agency, Reel Management, of which he is president.

Marcuse’s lecture is part of the UW Center for Career and Advising Services’ Spring Career Week. The presentation will be followed by a “resume roundup” with current employers and Marcuse.

Friday Night Fever sponsors the event. For more information about Marcuse, visit www.reelmanagement.com/index.php?page=about-us. For more information about Friday Night Fever events, visit the UW website at www.uwyo.edu/cac.

Individuals needing assistance to attend the event should call the Campus Activities Center at (307) 766-6340.
