UW Undergraduate Writing Contest Applications Available

February 18, 2013

Do you love Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe or want to become the next William Shakespeare?

Sponsors of the undergraduate writing contest -- the University of Wyoming Department of English -- believe that the next great author or poet could be a UW undergraduate. The annual undergraduate writing contest is intended to showcase creative writing across the university in a variety of genres.

A $100 prize will be given to each student who creates the best previously unpublished work of short fiction, poetry or creative nonfiction. Winners also will have a manuscript consultation with a judge, and students will be invited to read their works at a public reading in April.

All entries must be submitted by Friday, March 15, to wyoawards@gmail.com. Manuscripts previously submitted for the contest are not eligible, but past contest winners are eligible to submit new work.

For manuscript information, visit the undergraduate writing contest web site at https://www.uwyo.edu/english/ugwc.html.
