UW Parking Lot to Close Monday

March 15, 2013

The parking lot on the east side of the University of Wyoming Performing Arts Center will be closed beginning Monday, March 18.

The lot will be used as the staging area for a renovation and expansion of the Performing Arts Center. When the project is completed in spring 2015, the area will not reopen as a parking lot but will be converted into a green area. Building visitors should use the lot on the north side of the building.

Those entering the Performing Arts Center must now enter through the doors on the west side of the building. This will be the entrance for all building operations, including classes, ticket purchases and performances.

The Performing Arts Center project will include approximately 50,000 gross square feet of new construction and about 120,000 gross square feet of renovation of portions of the existing building.

The improvements to the building will include: modern practice and teaching rooms with appropriately designed and constructed sound attenuation; modern technology; new and improved faculty offices; work rooms, reception areas, conference rooms, lounges and storage rooms; teaching laboratories; music, dance and acting studios; and performance spaces such as concert halls and theaters.
