The indie rock band The Dear Hunter performs a free concert Wednesday, April 17, at 8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming College of Education auditorium.

The Dear Hunter, known for its album, “The Color Spectrum,” recently released its new album “Migrant.”

Casey Crescenzo started The Dear Hunter when he was a full-time member of the Boston band “The Receiving End of Sirens.” Crescenzo created 10 copies of the demos, which were intended for his friends. But his friends began circulating the recordings.

At the time, Crescenzo says he did not plan to pursue “The Dear Hunter” full time, and allowed the demos to be placed online for download. On Feb. 2, 2006, The Dear Hunter played its first show with The Receiving End of Sirens as the backing band.
