UW Theatre and Dance Professor Nominated for Excellence in Design Award

University of Wyoming  Department of Theatre and Dance Lecturer Sharon Huizinga has been nominated for one of Live Design magazine's Excellence in Design awards.

The nomination is for her lighting design work on last fall’s UW production of "From the Ashes:  A Cinderella Ballet."

The voting allows the public and professionals to choose among the best projects in several categories. This production is nominated in the "Theatre" category. Voting is open to the public at: http://livedesignonline.com/news/excellence-awards-voting-open. The deadline to vote is Tuesday, April 30.

Published nine times annually, Live Design is a technical journal for live entertainment professionals in lighting, sound, staging and projection.

Huizinga has been a lighting designer and programmer for more than 15 years. She has worked around the world and in many genres, from theatre and live music to corporate events and television. Her credits include lighting director for the Cultural Olymplia of the 2010 Winter Olympics; lighting programmer for “Shrek, the Musical” Broadway show and national tour; and lighting director for Norah Jones’ summer 2003 tour.
