More than 80 students have confirmed they will participate in the University of Wyoming multicultural graduation ceremony Friday, May 10, at 3 p.m. at the UW Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn.

UW President Tom Buchanan and College of Arts and Sciences Dean Oliver Walter will be the guest speakers.

During the ceremony, the UW International Students and Scholars office will give the graduates a stole that represents the flag of their home country. The Multicultural Affairs office will present graduates with kente-style, woven stoles that include colors and symbols reflecting the graduates’ ethnicity or culture.

“Multicultural graduation is a wonderful program to celebrate the semester’s many multicultural and international graduates,” says Danee Hunzie, assistant director of admissions. She says the celebration also can be viewed via WYOCAST, allowing many of the students’ families from distant countries to participate.

A special shuttle will take participants from the Wyoming Union lot to the Hilton Garden Inn beginning at 2:30 p.m. The service will resume at 4:45 p.m. to transport participants back to the Wyoming Union.
