University of Wyoming President Bob Sternberg has started a new on-campus tradition by encouraging students, faculty and staff to wear brown and gold UW gear every Friday.

He’s extending the invitation to UW supporters across the Cowboy State to participate in “UW Pride Fridays” as well.

“This is a great way to promote pride in our state’s university and celebrate our collective achievements,” Sternberg says. “In my short time here, I’ve learned just how strongly the people of Wyoming feel about their land-grant and flagship institution. Wearing brown and gold is a wonderful way to express that pride and support.”

Gov. Matt Mead has declared Friday, Aug. 30, as College Colors Day, asking Wyoming residents to wear their collegiate colors that day to commemorate the tradition and spirit of their favorite schools. In conjunction with that event, Sternberg declared every Friday, starting Aug. 30, as “UW Pride Friday” and encouraged members of the UW community to wear brown and gold attire on those days.

“UW employees, students, alumni and friends are spread across our big state and beyond, so we invite everyone to join us in this new weekly tradition,” Sternberg says.
