President Plans First Listening Session Wednesday

September 23, 2013 — Since starting work at the University of Wyoming in July, President Bob Sternberg has held two “town meetings” on campus to answer questions and articulate his vision for the university. Another such meeting is planned for early October.

In the meantime, Sternberg is launching another initiative -- this one to gather input from the university community.

The president will host the first in a series of “listening hall meetings” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom. All students, faculty and staff members are invited to attend and provide him with input about the directions they believe the university should take.

“I want to hear from members of the university community about their views of where the university is and where it should be heading,” Sternberg says. “Please come and give me your thoughts regarding this important issue.”

Whereas the purpose of the town meetings is to ask questions of the president, the purpose of the listening meetings is for students, faculty and staff members to provide him with their thoughts, counsel and advice.

The next town meeting -- a teleconference for UW faculty and staff outside of Laramie -- is scheduled for Oct. 7. Look for a forthcoming announcement regarding time and site locations.
