Willena Stanford Diversity Award Nominations Being Accepted

November 21, 2013

Nominations for the diversity award honoring Willena Stanford, a longtime University of Wyoming African-American and Diaspora Studies instructor, will be accepted until Monday, Dec. 9.

The award is available to any UW student enrolled for the 2014 spring semester, including undergraduate and graduate students, on-campus and outreach students, and those with full-time or part-time status.

Nominations will be accepted from UW students, faculty, staff and administrators. Nominations should be in letter format and sent to the Dean of Students office in Room 128 of Knight Hall, or emailed to halatorr@uwyo.edu. The nomination letter should include the nominee’s name, class standing, major, and how the nominee has enhanced and supported diversity at UW. The nominators should include information about themselves including their names, titles, contact information and relation to the nominees.

A committee composed of representatives of the steering committee and the Multicultural Affairs sector of the Dean of Students office will make the selection. The winner will be announced and all nominees will be recognized at the Martin Luther King Jr. march and community supper Monday, Jan. 20. The winner will receive a $500 gift card from the UW Store. The MLK/Days of Dialogue steering committee funds the award.
