UW Staff Senate Collects for Holiday Food Baskets

December 2, 2013

The University of Wyoming Staff Senate is accepting food donations for its annual Employee Holiday Food Baskets.

The goal is to assist university staff members and their families that may need a little extra help during the holidays. A collection box is located at the Staff Senate table at the Dec. 2 Holiday Market in the Wyoming Union, plus various locations across campus. The food donations will be collected Dec. 18, and distributed to nominated UW families.

Individuals who are aware of UW employees that might need a little extra this holiday season are encouraged to complete by Friday, Dec. 13,  the nomination form located on the Staff Senate website (www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/index.html). The process is confidential; the recipients are not disclosed and all nominations are confidential.

If collected food items exceed the number of recipients, all remaining food will be donated to Interfaith Good Samaritan to assist Laramie and Albany County families in need.

Staff Senate also is collecting snack items for the Wyoming National Guard 133rd Engineering Company based in Bahrain. The company is requesting the following items: cookies, brownies, jerky, snack bars, trail mix, small packages of nuts and dried fruit, and water flavorings.
