University of Wyoming Calendar for Jan. 20

Rapper Talib Kweli will deliver the keynote speech for this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom.

These are among activities scheduled Jan. 20-26 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Jan. 20, 4 p.m. -- The Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue march begins at the Albany County Courthouse on Ivinson Street and proceeds to the Wyoming Union.

Monday, Jan. 20, 4:45 p.m. -- The Dr. Willena Stanford Community Supper will immediately follow the MLK March, Wyoming Union Ballroom. Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 8 a.m. -- Peter Gibbons’ exhibition “Photographing Art of the Hunt,” Gallery 234 in the Wyoming Union lower level. Free, on view through Feb. 6.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 11 a.m.-noon -- Guest speaker Sanjeev Arora lecture for Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), Coe Library, Room 506. Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 12:15-1:15 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: “Sharing Forward -- Telling the Untold Stories of Wyoming’s People,” Wyoming Union Family Room. Free, lunch is provided.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1:20- 2:30 p.m. -- School of Energy Resources (SER) distinguished speaker Marc Strahn discusses “Landmen in the Exploration Process,” Energy Innovation Center Encana auditorium, Room 201. Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 7 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: Jazz performance by Galen Abdur-Razzaq, Wyoming Union Gardens.  Free.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 7-8:30 p.m. -- The MFA Visiting Writer Series hosts a reading and book signing by Claire Vaye Watkins, Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, Jan. 22, noon -- MLK Days of Dialogue: Gene Policinski of the Newseum and the First Amendment Center will discuss the civil rights movement, Wyoming Union Ballroom. Free.

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl basketball vs. Air Force, Arena-Auditorium. Tickets cost $13 for adults and $7 for youths.

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: Keynote presentation by Talib Kweli, Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. Free.

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7-9 p.m. -- Back Country Film Festival, Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Appetizers, door prizes, raffle and more, $5 suggested donation at the door.

Thursday, Jan. 23, 12:30 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: “The Black 14 and the Dream Today,” Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. Free.

Thursday, Jan. 23, 1:20- 2:30 p.m. -- SER distinguished speaker Boyd Nelson, Wyoming Association of Professional Landmen president, Energy Innovation Center Encana auditorium, Room 201. Free.

Thursday, Jan. 23, 7 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: “Fruitvale Station” movie screening, Wyo Theater, 309 S. Fifth St. Free.

Thursday, Jan. 23, 7 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue: Introduction to Islam for the Equality State, Albany County Public Library. Free.

Friday, Jan. 24, 6-8 p.m. -- Opening for Jon Young/Nedra Jouini student exhibition, Visual Arts Building This Gallery. Free.

Friday, Jan. 24, 7 p.m. -- Cowboy wrestling vs. Cal Poly, UniWyo Sports Complex. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for youths.

Friday, Jan. 24, 9 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue and Friday Night Fever present “The Asia Project,” spoken word performance, College of Education auditorium. Free.

Saturday, Jan. 25, 2 p.m. -- Cowboy basketball vs. Nevada, Arena-Auditorium. Tickets cost $22 for adults and $14 for youths.

Saturday, Jan. 25, 6 p.m. -- MLK Days of Dialogue and United Multicultural Council Diversity Ball, Wyoming Union Ballroom. Tickets are free but required, available at the Wyoming Union Information Desk Jan. 22-Jan. 24.
