The University of Wyoming Outdoor Program will host its spring outdoor gear swap Sunday, April 13, from 11 a.m-1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.
The swap attracts hundreds of people seeking used outdoor equipment at reasonable rates.
“It’s a great community event to recycle outdoor equipment and get gear into the hands of people who want it,” says Dan McCoy, Outdoor Program assistant director.
For individuals interested in selling their gently used outdoor equipment, the swap is open to such equipment items as skis, outdoor clothing, bikes, kayaks/rafts, boots, tents, snowshoes, backpacks, sleeping bags, children’s gear and much more.
Not only will there be items submitted from Laramie community members, but local gear shops as well.
“All local retailers are invited to participate,” McCoy says. “Frequently, Cross Country Connection brings used rental or demo equipment to sell.” The Outdoor Program takes 15 percent for items that are sold.
Sellers need to tag all their equipment during special equipment check-in times Saturday, April 12, (6-8 p.m.) and Sunday (8-10 a.m.) in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Unsold items need to be picked up by sellers immediately after the swap, 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
For individuals purchasing items, cash and checks (with a valid ID) are the only forms of payment accepted.
"There are a lot of great deals on equipment," McCoy says. "The best way to find them is to get in line before the doors open at 11 and know what you need."
