David Lopez is UW Staff Employee of the Quarter

David Lopez’s contagious positive attitude and high quality work in an area used by thousands of students each day have earned him recognition as the University of Wyoming’s Outstanding Staff Employee of the Second Quarter.

A facilities attendant II with Residence Life and Dining Services in Washakie Center, Lopez received the award that recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace.

“He is a perfectionist at what he does, and is always up for the task and shows his willingness and ability to make his environment the best it can be,” a nominator wrote. Another noted that, for several months, Lopez has done the job of two people without complaint.

“He has a huge impact on the students that use the area in which he works, with his bright smile and positive attitude that the students see first thing in the morning,” according to the nomination. “The area where he works would not be the same without him.”

“I really enjoy working with the students,” says Lopez who, in 2001, began working at UW’s residence halls, and moved to Washakie Center two years later. “I also enjoy meeting new students every year.”

Additionally, he says he enjoys his co-workers.

“I appreciate all the support I have received from Deb Meryhew, Sylvia Sanchez, Scott Diederich, Betty Milliken and all the others I work with on a daily basis. Residence Life and Dining Services is a great place to work.”

Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter.
