United Way Campaign Kickoff Sept. 30 at UW

September 15, 2014

The University of Wyoming’s 2014 United Way campaign will begin Tuesday, Sept. 30, with a campus Campaign Kickoff and Resource Fair from 3-5 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.

The entire campus community is invited to attend the event, which will feature food, door prizes and information about the United Way of Albany County -- and the 15 nonprofit agencies it supports. Representatives of those agencies will be on hand to provide information about the services they provide.

UW’s 2014 United Way campaign committee has established a goal of $128,700. In 2013, more than 400 UW employees contributed about $128,000.

UW employees may donate to the United Way through payroll deduction or one-time contributions.

“We invite everyone at UW to come to the kickoff and learn more about all the great things the United Way does for the community,” say Kim Zafft and Dave Bagley, co-chairs of the 2014 UW campaign.

UW students also are encouraged to attend the Sept. 30 kickoff and to contribute to the United Way. They may do so by going online to

The goal for the overall United Way of Albany County campaign this year is $422,000.

“The generosity of the UW community allows the United Way to help many people in need here in Albany County,” says Paul Heimer, the agency’s executive director. “Without the United Way, a lot of the programs and services that provide a huge safety net for the residents of Albany County would have to be drastically cut back or might even disappear.”
