An art exhibition, faculty response panel and reception are among events Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 5:30 p.m. that are part of a Holocaust remembrance activity at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. It is free and open to the public.

A small, temporary exhibition of artwork from the Art Museum’s permanent collection will be on view in the Resource Room for the evening’s program. The UW student group Hillel also hosts the event.

“The display features works by Jewish artists, as well as work inspired by World War II and the events of the Holocaust,” say Rachel Clifton, UW Art Museum assistant curator.

Three UW faculty members will participate in a panel discussion, responding to the artwork from their area of expertise. Rachel Sailor, art history; Seth Ward, religious studies; and David Messenger, history and global area studies; will participate. A reception follows the panel discussion.

UW’s Hillel is a recognized student organization on campus that works to build Jewish interests and activities, and strengthen the Jewish community. The art program is part of Holocaust Remembrance Week.

For more information, call the UW Art Museum at (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum or follow the museum on Facebook and Instagram.

Through its "Museum as Classroom" approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. The museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays. Admission is free.
