H.L. Hix, curator of the current exhibition, titled “Ley Lines: Intersecting Conversations,” will discuss “How We Talk to One Another When We Talk with Art” at the University of Wyoming Art Museum Monday, March 9, at 6 p.m.

The art talk will be followed by an interdisciplinary panel discussion, titled “Conversing Through Art?” UW Professor Jeff Lockwood will moderate the discussion.

“Ley Lines: Intersecting Conversations” is on view through May 2. The art talk and panel discussion are free and open to the public.

Both Hix and Lockwood are professors in the UW Department of Philosophy and the MFA in Creative Writing Program. Other panel participants will be Leah Hardy, art professor; Shelby Shadwell, art assistant professor; and Naomi Ward, molecular biology associate professor.

“Ley Lines: Intersecting Conversations” references the aligning of imagery to written response, which generates new ways of thinking about art and literature as a basis for humanist experience, dialogue, conversation and reflection. The exhibition presents the work of artists; each has been paired with a writer for a literary response.

For more information, call the Art Museum at (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum, or follow on Facebook and Instagram.

Through its "Museum as Classroom" approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. The museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays. Admission is free.
