Public Art Plan Meetings Scheduled in Laramie

February 12, 2015

Two public meetings to discuss Laramie's Community Wide Public Art Plan, which will guide choices about how future public art is developed and implemented, are scheduled later this month.

The art plan is a cooperative partnership among the city of Laramie, Laramie Main Street Alliance, Laramie Chamber Business Alliance, Laramie Beautification Committee and the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

The first public meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Laramie Junior High School cafeteria, located at 1355 N. 22nd St. The second meeting is Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lincoln Community Center, 365 W. Grand Ave.

Consultants Renee Piechocki and Jennifer McGregor will be at the two events, presenting examples of public art projects and discussing places in Laramie where possible art projects can be located.

Both presentations are open to the public, and art supplies will be available for children to create their own projects during the meetings.

Funding sources for the completion of the Community Wide Public Art Plan are from the partner organizations, along with grants from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund and the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
